Denominational Affairs

The Denominational Affairs committee keeps the church connected to the UUA (Unitarian Universalist Association) and to our district (Mass Bay) activities. The committee informs the congregation of resolutions passed at the annual General Assembly and works with the Social Concerns committee on denominationally sponsored social justice efforts.

Information Technology

The IT Committee provides support and expertise in managing, maintaining, and securing the information technology systems of the church. This includes assisting and advising on the purchase, installation, and maintenance of hardware and software, supporting Internet and e-mail services, and developing and maintaining the church Web site in collaboration with the staff, the board, and the committee council.

Nominating

The Nominating committee seeks volunteers to fill vacancies on church committees.

Property

Property@melroseuu.org

The Property committee manages and maintains the church building and grounds, including the parsonage. The committee arranges for routine maintenance and repairs, supervises the work of the custodian, handles emergencies, and coordinates use of the church by outside parties.

Publicity

Publicity@melroseuu.org

The Publicity committee oversees general advertising and publicity efforts for the church and works with the chairs of committees and special events to publicize their programs.

Religious Education

The Religious Education committee works with the Director of Religious Education to organize and implement the Religious Education program, which focuses on encouraging children to explore spiritually, teaching UU values and other world religions, and allowing children to develop their own individual beliefs in a safe, fun, accepting and supportive community. The Welcoming Congregation committee supports the acceptance of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered (GLBT) people within the congregation and community by integrating awareness of issues that GLBT people face. The committee sponsors programs for church members and the general public, and builds coalitions with other churches and organizations in the community. More...
