Welcoming Congregation Committee

The purpose of the Welcoming Congregation Committee is to support the acceptance of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered people within our lives, the congregation and the community, through integrating awareness of issues that GLBT people face. The committee also sponsors Welcoming Congregation themed programs for church members and for the public, and builds coalitions with other churches and organizations in the community. What does it mean to be a welcoming congregation?

2004 was a special year for GLBT people with the legalization of Same-Sex Marriage in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts! Our church was actively supportive of marriage equality for all, and we had the privilege of celebrating with several same-sex couples after getting married at our church.

Several members and friends of the church represented MUUC by walking in the Pride Parade in Boston on June 12, 2004.
