Annual Retreat cancelled this spring due to unavailability of Senexet House in Connecticut. But there is a Potluck and Meeting on April 14 to discuss alternatives. Sign up today!
The Men’s Group of the Church meets to plan activities for the year, such as the Men’s Retreat, sporadic Hasty Retreats, game nights, and the annual Yankee Swap Christmas Party.
Please note that we’re working on learning and creating both more inclusive wording and a more inclusive community.
Any one associated in any way with the Melrose UU church can attend the Men’s Retreat. Church membership is not required.

2022 Men’s Group Yankee Swap
Men’s Annual Retreat
Each year the men of the Church are invited to attend a weekend retreat in early Spring. A team is assembled to select activities to work on during the retreat.
The guys head to Senexet House, Woodstock, Connecticut for a great weekend of fellowship, relaxation, conversation, food, games, and music. And upon departing, we enjoy our “re-entrance wafers,” also known as fresh, warm, home-made cookies!
There is fun, food, fellowship and all the thoughtful conversations that seem to spontaneously break out everywhere and anytime
More Details
The Men’s Retreat weekend is typically held at the Senexet House, which is situated in the northeast corner of CT. This 1886 Victorian features a fireplaced living room with an adjoining library, chapel, a large bright dining room, a screened porch with views to Roseland Lake and 11 bedrooms containing two to 5 beds each with shared toilet and bath facilities. Set on 11 acres of pine forest and fields this facility offers a tranquil and inspirational setting for our activities. The food is excellent with vegetarian alternatives available. The buildings used for the Men’s Retreat are all wheelchair accessible.

The group car-pools down (car-poolers can determine how to split that cost) on the afternoon or evening Friday and return Sunday afternoon, after a fabulous lunch with world famous “re-entry wafers” (i.e. warm cookies!). A $110 deposit (non-refundable) when registering reserves a spot for you, and the balance is due to the organizing committee about a month before the retreat. (you can also pay the full amount when you register). Checks should be made out to the Melrose Unitarian Universalist Church (or MUUC) with a memo “Men’s Retreat”.
*NOTE – We believe all who want to come should be able to, regardless of circumstances. Discrete and confidential scholarship assistance is available. Please reach out to Reverend Susanne for this.
