Curt Newton is a volunteer coordinator and State Steering Team representative for the Mystic Valley node of 350 Massachusetts for a Better Future (350 Mass), a member-led grassroots advocacy organization working to to build 100% clean energy solutions and to reduce fossil fuel consumption as quickly as possible.
Professionally, Mr. Newton is Director of OpenCourseWare at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the world’s largest university repository of open educational resources and staff representative to the MIT Climate Action Advisory Committee. His work at MIT has also includes collaborating with two colleagues to found MIT ClimateX an open digital hub for climate learning and action, including roles as content advisor and co-host for the podcast “Climate Conversations.”
In addition to degrees from Iowa State University and Stanford University in electrical engineering. Mr. Newton is also an accomplished jazz percussionist for more than 30 years, and earned a Masters of Music in Jazz Performance from New England Conservatory of Music.
