Friends of Melrose METCO

“Friends of Melrose METCO”

The Anti-Racism Team has been working with other interested Melrose and Boston residents and started a successful “Friends of Melrose METCO” group. METCO is a voluntary school integration program working with Boston families and suburban schools.

The Anti-Racism Ministry team invites ANYONE who is interested in participating in this group to join.

Please email “friendsofmelrosemetco@gmail.com” if you are interested in learning about this group.

METCO Tour of Melrose

In the fall of 2020, FOMM held a very successful and well-attended METCO Tour of Melrose. Over 150 people from Boston and Melrose walked together (socially-distanced in small groups) along Main Street, learning about the city and each other. Parents learned about the places their kids hang-out after school. This tour was followed by a pizza lunch and lots of great conversation. We plan to make this an annual event! A METCO Tour of Boston, hosted by the Boston families, is planned for the spring.

Friends of Melrose METCO Scholarship

In early 2020, FOMM was able to set up a “Friends of Melrose METCO” scholarship for a graduating METCO student. Tax deductible contributions were made through the Melrose High School Permanent Scholarship Fund.
For the 2021 scholarship, checks may be sent directly to the Melrose High School Permanent Scholarship Fund or contributions can be made on line via http://www.mhsfund.org/donate.html includes all instructions.
