Giving

The members and long-time friends of Melrose Unitarian Universalist Church are its primary stewards. It is our shared responsibility to take care of it today, so that we can both live our mission and help the church grow and thrive for the benefit of future generations.

Stewardship (the job of supervising or taking care of something, such as an organization or property) is a year-round effort that requires everyone’s active participation through various gifts of time, talent and treasure. By giving in ways that best work for each of us, we collectively contribute to the overall success of our beloved community and fulfill our own need for generosity. To learn why this community is important to some of our church members and friends, read their recent testimonials (Click HERE).

The Annual Pledge Drive provides the MUUC with our primary source of funds to support our annual operating budget. A pledge is a year-long financial commitment that can be paid in a lump sum or in monthly or quarterly installments over the course of a year.

The Harvest Fair, held each fall, is one of our two fundraising events each year that also support the annual operating budget. Offering baked goods, crafts, vintage jewelry, collectibles, amaryllis bulbs and much more, it is an annual tradition that brings out the whole Melrose community.

The Auction, held in late winter, is a festive evening featuring a wide array of items in both silent and live auctions, along with refreshments, music, and great conversations.

A Collection Plate is passed during each church service where members and friends donate cash and checks (made out to the church). If not specifically marked as a “pledge” payment, half of the cash collection is shared each month with a designated charity in support of our Giving Beyond Our Walls ministry.
