Immigration Ministry Team Update: Mar 21, 2019

We are glad to report that the refugee family we are helping to support has moved into another temporary housing situation here in Melrose, where they have been invited to stay for two months. This has allowed them to register for school which the children have been desperate to do.

Please come and meet our family at a Game Night, Saturday March 16th, staring at 6:30 pm. Pizza and refreshments will be served.

The Immigration Ministry (IM) is planning a Pot Luck Dinner in their honor on April 4th. We hope that the MUUC Community will join us in welcoming them to our church as well as Melrose.

In the mean time, we continue to search for a landlord who will accept the application of an asylum-seeking mother and her four children who are financially destitute. Although we as members of The Metro-North Cluster assure that we will support them, it’s a tough sell.

In addition, we have submitted a Letter of Intent for financial support for IM activities to the Foundation Trust and will be informed within four to six weeks if we are invited to submit a full grant proposal. Lets keep positive thoughts and our collective fingers crossed!
