(from our Music Director, Tara Tresner-Kirsch)
On the morning of December 24th, 2017, we will sing into a Winter Solstice service together. At this service, we will set aside our carols for an hour. Instead, we will welcome in silence. We will sing songs repetitively and meditatively. We will listen to readings and prayers. And we will light candles together to light our way through this dark time of year.
This morning service is inspired by the traditions of a nonsectarian Christian community based in the village of Taizé, France. Taizé worship is based around meditative songs and chants, which have been translated into a multitude of languages for people who travel to France from all corners of the globe. These songs have then also travelled outward and have made there way into many hymnals, congregations, and services around the world (including our own). I hope you will join us for this restful and renewing service!
