And Come In!

We are pleased that you are seeking information about the Melrose Unitarian Universalist Church.

Who We Are:

We are a lively, multi-generational community of spiritual seekers. We are a non-creedal congregation, which means we do not have any single authoritative formula of religious belief. Instead, we covenant to support one another in our individual spiritual explorations; we live our faith in the larger world through action; and we seek wholeness in our individual lives within the compassion and strength of a liberal religious community. The Unitarian Universalist Association, of which we are a member, states: “Live your values aloud, not alone. Our open-minded, open-hearted spiritual communities help people lead lives of justice, love, learning and hope.”

Why We Are Here:

We are bonded together by our dedication to the Unitarian Universalist 7 Ethical Principles. While our roots are in the Judeo-Christian tradition, our membership affirms a variety of sources for spiritual inspiration guided by the Unitarian Universalist 6 Sources.

We invite you to engage in a variety of church activities, ask questions, learn more about the church, and let us get to know you a little better as well.

How We Worship

(NOTE: Due to Coronavirus, our worship services are currently a hybrid model of limited in-person and online worship. Limited spaces are available by prior sign-up for in-person worship in which we follow our safety protocols.

Our Worship Services take place every Sunday at 10:30 am, from September through June. We follow the UUA “Soul Matters” monthly themes, which provides resources and a shared journey for hundreds of UU churches.

Each week, in addition to sermons from our Minister and Guest Speakers that inspire, challenge, enlighten, and center us, our services include great music provided by our choir and its Music Director, and Religious Education for our children and youth provided by dedicated volunteers and our Director of Religious Education.

We share candles of Joy and Concern, asking others to hold in their hearts the important events in our lives. A collection is taken every week, as the Melrose UU Church is completely self-supporting. We donate at least half of the cash in the collection plate to a worthwhile charitable organization, in turn supporting their mission through our “Giving Beyond Our Walls“ program.

After worship, we engage in thoughtful discussions about how we can take action to make a difference in today’s world, and teach our children to do the same.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our Minister or Director of Religious Education or Music Director by email (please be sure to include your email contact information) or by calling the Church Office phone, 781-665-7504.

In fellowship,

The Board of Directors
